Noora Health Board & Partner Retreat 2022

Hello, and Welcome to Bangalore!

We hope you had a smooth trip and have taken a moment to rest and recharge.

We look forward to a week of meaningful and in-depth discussions with the team, day trips to area hospitals to see our work in action, and quality time as a group to celebrate the year and plan ahead. And of course, we’ll make time for many cups of chai, indulge in some culinary delights (masala dosa is a requirement!), and take in the special sights of this beautiful city.

We can’t overstate our gratitude for your continued dedication and guidance – and for your presence here now. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to gather together. We’re thrilled for you to see and feel the magic of shared purpose and passion across our team.

In this welcome kit, you will find a preview of the week’s agenda, a snapshot of team members you’ll meet and sites we will visit, and other important information such as contact numbers and addresses.

Again – warmest welcome!

Edith, Shahed, + the entire Noora Health team

Site Visits

Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research

Jayadeva is an autonomous, 1,150-bedded cardiac sciences hospital with state-of-the-art equipment in the form of 7 cath labs, 7 operating theaters, non-Invasive laboratories, and 24-hour ICU facilities. The Cardiac CCP was implemented at SJICSR-Bangalore in 2018. The program expanded to SJICSR-Mysore and Gulbaraga in 2022. CCP master trainers have trained 60,000 patients and caregivers in cardiac care (pre-surgery, post-surgery, and cardiology patients), and we offer remote engagement services for patients and caregivers to stay connected at home.

H. Siddhia  Maternity Hospital

H. Siddhia Maternity Hospital is an urban maternity hospital of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (municipal corporation), where we launched our program in 2019. The hospital provides maternity (with Special Newborn Care Unit – SNCU) and outpatient services. This hospital acts as a referral hospital for urban poor and marginalized communities of Bangalore. CCP master trainers have trained 2,275 mothers and caregivers in CCP sessions for Antenatal Care (ANC), Postnatal Care (PNC), and SNCU mothers.

District Hospital, Ramanagara

Ramanagara is located 50km from Bangalore. Previously known as ‘Closepet,” it was later renamed Ramanagara which was derived from Ramagiri hill near the town. We launched our Maternal and Newborn Care program at DH Ramanagara in 2019. The CCP master trainers have trained 10,000 mothers and caregivers in the ANC, PNC, and SNCU CCP training sessions.

Sub-District Hospital, Chintamani

Chintamani is a town near Kolar. It’s famous for its silk and tomato production. SDH Chintamani is a taluk hospital (CHC) with a 100 bedded maternal and newborn care wing. The CCP master trainers have trained 2,746 mothers and caregivers in the ANC, PNC, and SNCU CCP training sessions.

Travel Tips & Tricks

What to bring

Comfortable shoes that you’re okay getting dirty/dusty; both sandals and close-toed.

A shawl/scarf

Water bottle

Necessary travel medications

Face masks (we’ll provide masks throughout your visit but feel free to bring your own!)

Sunscreen and insect repellent

Rain jacket (it’s monsoon season)

Hand wipes / sanitizer

Tips for Attire

For the Noora Health office

We’re quite casual!

Dresses, tunics, trousers, long skirts, cotton/linen button-ups, sandals/closed-toe shoes, etc.

For facility/hospital visits

Business casual
Men: collared Shirt (half or full sleeves), Pants/trousers (no jeans), shoes
Women: long length top/kurta (half or full sleeves), long dress, pants/trousers, etc. (If you don’t have these, we can visit Fab India before the hospital visit.)

Pack a pair of socks for your visit, as some maternity wards request you to remove your shoes before entering the unit.
